CALLING ALL LOCAL FOOD PRODUCERS…..

Are Farmers Markets not really your thing? Would you like to pick/make and pack what has already been pre-sold at a fair price you set rather than just hoping? Would you like customers lining up to collect your produce?

Join us on 22nd February for a free info session about REKO RINGS and starting one for the Gympie/Noosa regions.

What is a REKO RING?

Reko is a contraction of “Responsible Consumption”, one of the United Nations Global Goals, and is a trade model originally created in Finland.

It’s a model that connects customers directly with local farmers, makers and growers, with a shared goal of supporting small scale producers and creating a market that encourages ethical production values.

Each REKO Ring has a private Facebook Group where the producers and makers advertise what they have available to purchase at the weekly pick-up.
Customers order by commenting on the vendors post, and pay the producer by direct deposit.  Each week at a pre-determined location and time, producers aggregate to place the orders  into their customers arms. Rather than the traditional farmers markets where farmers produce, pick, package, transport their produce to the central market in the hope that it all sells and then take home what doesn’t, REKO rings eliminate wasted time and produce.

Jacki Hinchey will be our guest speaker. Jackie is involved with Reko Moreton Bay, is the FAN Moreton Bay Co-Ordinator and a farmer. Jacki is developing ways to improve the REKO experience for consumers and farmers and will talk to us about the opportunities REKO Rings create for small scale producers, what’s involved and where to start.

Coffee and Cake will be available for purchase.
