2026 DATES TO BE CONFIRMED
4 DAY WORKSHOP (2 in-person days in autumn followed by 2 in-person days in Spring). PLUS UP TO 2 YEARS ONGOING SUPPORT (offered in person or remotely).
Alternately know as Principles of Biological Systems, this course, taught by lifelong organic farmer and founder of the Bionutrient Food Association, Dan Kittredge is centered on the knowledge and techniques necessary to produce Nutrient Dense crops. Nutrient Dense crops have superior nutritional content to the norm, and come from plants that are foundationally healthy. Symptoms of this health include pest and disease resistance, increased vigor and vitality, and decreased cost of production. Increased Nutrient Density as well, correlates directly with increased flavor and aroma.
These numerous benefits occur only when crops are produced in soil that has high levels of microbial activity. As plants evolved to eat and be fed through a symbiotic relationship with their microbiome, establishing and supporting a high level of life in the soil is foundational in the process of producing Nutrient Dense crops.
This course covers in detail the critical environmental conditions necessary to accomplish this reality. As microbes require foundational components like air, water, food, and basic minerals to flourish, along with a full spectrum of species present as well, it is the management practices necessary to realize this success we focus on.
TOPICS INCLUDE:
-
Basics of the biological system – How have plants evolved to grow, in symbiosis with microbes for more than 400 million years. How do we support that dynamic in our crop production fields
-
Tillage
-
Cover crops and polycultures
-
Rotation
-
Role of weeds
-
Pest and disease resistance

History of agriculture, and its effect on the landscape.
-
How did indigenous cultures do it?
-
Soil compaction and aeration
-
Establishing perennials, seed or seedling
-
Climate disruption and how to reverse it, the role of carbon and the role of the water cycle,
-
What is nutrient density, where is the research, what is the vision, what is the story with meters?
-
Consciousness and intention, the X factor in working with nature. What is a green thumb?
-
Antenna systems and frequency, How does nature communicate, how do insects choose which crops to attack?
-
Para-magnetism and energy in the land
-
Bio-accummulator plants and transmutation. How does nature address mineral deficiencies?
-
IN season monitoring and management – the conductivity meter, the refractometer, plant sap meters, tissue tests and sap tests, and what to do with them
-
Plant visual analysis and how to use it to guide your management
-
Fertilizer and amendments, what is the difference and how does nature do it?
-
Compost – How does nature do it?
-
Inoculants – how to make your own, what is natures model and how do you know what works well
-
Human health, and reversing chronic disease – How does nutrient density effect this?
-
Coherence and consciousness – what is the connection between nutrient density and grounding the higher levels of our selves?
-
Enzyme systems, minerals and system function – why do we need a comprehensive suite of minerals for full system function
-
Sourcing minerals from nature – How do we bring in what we need at the lowest possible cost?
-
Occupying the land – A vision for human culture that re-indigenizes our blood lines. How to not be wage slaves, and model a healthy human culture for our children and grandchildren, or a strategy of a lifestyle to raise children well in harmony with nature.
-
If we can desertify the land through agriculture we can green the land through agriculture – How?
-
Elders and their insights – Some of those whose shoulders we stand on you may never have heard of – and what they have to teach us.
-
Plant life cycles – from early childhood development to puberty and the reproductive phase. – If we understand the dynamics of life in animals we can understand it in plants.
-
How we traumatize our plants unconsciously and how to do it no longer.
-
Epigenetics – the role of seed quality and how to get to the point of having high quality seed
-
Water – coherence, structure, and sufficiency. It is so much more than just H2O
-
Systemically sucking the life force out of agribusiness and the medical industry. How we build the world we want to see with a simple selfish shift in our everyday actions.
-
You are what you eat – Redefining quality in the food supply – beyond physical substance to the mental and emotional food we eat every day. And how about who you eat with and how?
-
Basics of soil chemistry and structure – What is pH and what does it actually mean, and when can you ignore it?
-
Mineral balancing. Using soil tests to identify mineral deficiencies and then calculate the quantities of minerals necessary to address deficiencies.
WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM THIS COURSE?
Grazier and cropping farmers – learn how soil health relates to nutrient density and the role this will play in marketing your produce in the future. Learn how to work with natures guidelines and abundance and why her guiding principles can help your practices, your bottom line, and your health.
Food chain supply buyers – what expectations will consumers drive as nutrient density measuring is enabled in their hands. Understand the science and practice behind raising food that will deliver consumer expectations.
Medical practitioners and auxiliary health professionals – learn to use food as medicine. Learn how to direct patients to connect with the food they eat and the biodiverse array of nutrients available in regeneratively grown produce. Explore the science behind these claims.
Regenerative Educators: explore the additional information coming to fruition as Dan Kittredge and the not-for-profit organisation (Bionutrient Food Association) fund nutrient density research via the Bio nutrient Research Foundation. This groundbreaking technology and data will provide a significant point of differentiation for regenerative grown produce and be a break point for the green washing currently in our market stream.
Consumers – educate yourself on what to look for with the farms and retailers you are engaged with to stock your pantries and feed yourself and families to optimal health. What tools will be available to you in the future to measure nutrient density at point of purchase. Leave with a clear understanding of how these nutrients get into your food and how you will benefit.
COURSE PROCESS
This course is taught in four days in person, with the first two in autumn focusing on autumn and winter topics and the second two days in the spring focusing on spring and summer topics. A majority of time is spent in the classroom setting with sufficient time for all attendees to have all questions asked, as well as roughly ¼ to 1/3 of the time spent in field demonstrating the techniques and principles.
Certification – After completion of presentation component of the course, attendees who are looking for complete the certificate component of the course will be expected to document practices and results sufficient to achieve excellent brix readings in 5 separate crops.
All details of the practice that were used to accomplish this excellent level of crop production will then be shared publicly to support a global cadre of crop producers in achieving this level of excellence.
COST AND PAYMENT OPTIONS
Cost of course is $2000 AUD and cover 4 days tuition with morning tea and lunch included and prepared by local food ambassador and hero chef Matt Golinski. You will be nourished!! Participants with financial need are invited to apply for scholarships which are available. Dates for Kandanga course are April 28th and 29th with September dates to be confirmed.
